"Diane Dupuy "
When Diane Dupuy was 6 years old her mom gave her a hand puppet for a birthday present. That was over 30 years ago. Today, Diane is probably the world's most acclaimed and imaginative puppeteer. She's even had a movie
made of her life ... by an American film company at that. Diane's troop knocks 'em dead everywhere they perform including Broadway, Las Vegas, and many countries around the world.
Diane Dupuy is the creative mastermind behind the 15 mentally handicapped performers who are the world-renown "Famous People Players". The novel idea of large, fluorescent-colored puppets dancing on a backdrop of black first occurred to Diane back in 1974.
Diane explained to me how she got the idea ... "One day I went to an institution to do a show and I couldn't get over how people were living in an institution. It really bothered me. I really felt that everybody had a contribution to make to society. There is a creative energy in all of us that needs to be explored. So, that's basically how I got the idea."
Diane Dupuy ... proof that in Canada, talent and determination will overcome any handicap. She's another Canadian Achiever.
