|From Winnipeg to Hollywood|
The people of Winnipeg think of her as one of the local kids who grew up dancing in a Ukrainian folk group. People who have watched the television show "Hill Street Blues" think of her as Detective Patsy Mayo. Mimi Kuzyk is both of these things, and more.
Mimi's fourteen years of dancing with the Winnipeg group gave her a love of the stage that eventually took her to Toronto. There she waited on tables, took acting lessons and tried out for every part she could find. It all paid off a few years ago when a TV executive from the U.S. encouraged Mimi to go to Los Angeles to try her luck.
Her luck proved to be pretty good. Within just a few weeks, Mimi was offered the part of Detective Mayo on the "Hill Street Blues" series, and a starring role in the movie "Paper Castles".
Mimi has not left her background far behind. She recently travelled to Regina, Edmonton, and her home town Winnipeg, acting in a play about growing up Ukrainian in Canada. Mimi successfully continues to enjoy her love for acting in Canada and the U.S. Be it on television, film or the stage. She's another "Canadian Achiever”.
