If you are a parent, grand parent, educator or
remotely have any interest whatsoever in family values. You will
love this Canadian Achiever.
“Parents are looking for games that will keep their kids occupied
and away from the TV or computer” That is what David Manga replied
when I asked him what it was he looks for in games for his company,
Outset Media, one of Canada’s major creators and distributors of family
board games, trivia games, party games and puzzles. David, now 33 years
of age, was born and raised in Ottawa. He invented his first board game
while attending the University of Ottawa. While working on Vancouver
Island one summer he decided to drop anchor and start a board game company
in Victoria, he was 23. It has been full speed ahead ever since. He
created “All Canadian Trivia’ it went on to become an independent
best seller and spawned “Junior, French, and Millennium “editions.
There are other Canadian themed games and puzzles in his catalogue of
over 300 games and puzzles. His “Pick two Deluxe “ board game is, as
he claims quite modestly “ Dick, it is absolutely the best word game
ever. Games have to be easy to play, fun to play, and easy to learn”
In 2005 David created the first game in his “Professor Noggins”
card games series for children. This acclaimed learning series now
has 30 titles on topics kids love. This year he will launch a new
line of children’s puzzles...watch for it.
His goal is to always present games that offer communication,
interaction and learning through entertainment, while encouraging
families to spend quality time together.
I am pleased to report that the list of major awards David’s games
have received for their playability, educational aspects and
entertainment value is extensive and impressive. In 2000 MacLean’s
named him one of 100 Canadians to watch in the new millennium.
It gives one hope to know there is a young dynamic business person
like David Mange who is dedicating his efforts to reinforce family
values through playing games. e is another Canadian Achiever.
